About the Staff
Robert Boucher
Welcome to Cirrus Management Training and Sailing Inc, I am Robert Boucher
the President/ Owner of the company. I have retired from thirty years in Federal
Government Service and I have held a variety of positions. The last 11 years
I was manager at two correctional institutions where I was responsible for
a large number of professional and correctional staff. Prior to this I worked
in the Correctional Service of Canada in human resources in recruitment, senior
executive staffing and training and development. I worked in the Correctional
Investigator's Office, an ombudsman office, as an investigator.
Over this time I have received formal training and practical experience in
the many aspects of leadership and team building. My training and expertise
have been proven in my work teaching, team building through delegation and
empowerment, behavior sciences, and facilitating workshops on improving team
performances. I developed and presented training sessions on recruitment and
retention of staff in employee-centered programs. My teaching experience was
obtained at the Correctional Staff College and St. Lawrence Community College.
My volunteer contributions include positions on the Board of United Way International and the National Board of the
United Way of Canada. This has provided me with the opportunity to meet with
a number of boards of directors and discuss the leadership role of a board
and how to work as a team. I have been asked to do presentations on meeting
the needs of a community through leadership to build the capacity of the community
as well as presentations on collaboration in a community by building an effective
a team. In the community I have volunteered many years in a number of sports'
organizations and I have a level two in coaching hockey and soccer.
As a seasoned and trained sailor I have instructed sailing for the last seven
years at Kingston Yacht Club. Sailing has brought me to many parts of the
world including sailing the Mediterranean. I am an instructor and examiner
for the Coast Guard course, Pleasure Craft Operators License and hold a Transport Canada's Captain's License.
I am currently an active member of the Ontario Society for Training and Development
and the Canadian Association of Professional Speakers, Ottawa Chapter. I hold
a bachelors degree from Carleton University with a double major in Psychology
and Sociology.
